Just as they’ve shared their friendship and many lifetime events through the years, Jonathan Tripoli and Jack Tarricone, both 15, shared their special evening as the two young men received the highest honor in Boy Scouts, the Order of the Eagle. Sunday, at 4 p.m., more than 100 adults and young people, many family and friends, crowded the upstairs room at Su Chang’s in Peabody to witness the Eagle Court of Honor for the two friends. Only 4 percent of boys who go into scouting ever achieve that honor, said Jon’s dad, Michael. Many start on the path toward the Eagle Award but never quite make it, since it requires a deep commitment on the part of the boy and his parents. As part of the requirements, each scout has to lead and ultimately complete a service project, documenting every step along the way. Jack Tarricone is a sophomore at St. John’s Preparatory School, where he’s achieved academic excellence as well athletic in football and rugby. He is also actively involved in fine arts at the school and plays alto saxophone and participates in the Woodwind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble and Jazz combo. He has also played for a summer theater group. This past winter, Tarricone turned to the senior population for his Eagle service project.
