Full coverage of UK Politics Wow.  For anyone who hasn't caught Frank Field's briliantly acidic World Service interview , here is the most wounding of his comments on Gordon Brown: "Somebody whose real aim in life was to be prime minister, now has the task and seems to be so lacking in enjoyment in trying to carry it out." This is dreadful, murderous stuff, going straight for the jugular.  It raises one simple, awful question: if Gordon Brown doesn't believe in his premiership, why should anyone else? It also signals that we've now moved into the next phase of the degradation of Mr Brown.   Having questioned his judgement, integrity, and leadership the Prime Minister's critics are moving on to his heart and soul, saying in public things that were previously only whispered in dark corners.   Perhaps it's not so surprising he looks a little glum these days.
