Re. Gene Robinson's June 26 column, "Trying not to get 'swift-boated'": Mr. Robinson's column focuses on white prejudice toward blacks. Now let's turn this around and talk about black prejudice toward whites. I will make my point very simply. Have you ever gone into a predominantly black restaurant and felt unwelcome? We have a Miss America contest where a black contestant can win. Yet the blacks have their own Miss Black America contest. In our U.S. Congress there is a Black Caucus. Why is this? We do not have a White Caucus. Sometimes I get the feeling that some blacks want to be segregated from whites. The problem in this country is that when we talk about the black/white issue it always seems to be tilted toward the blacks. White people spend billions of dollars every year attending sporting events that are dominated by black athletes. Take Tiger Woods out of a PGA event and watch the attendance drop. Does this sound like prejudice to you? I believe it is about time the media, politicians and in some instances preachers quit complaining about whites being prejudiced against blacks. If honest discussions are to be held let's talk about both sides of the issues, not just one side. This black/white issue was finally brought to the forefront at a high school in Little Rock, Ark., in the late 1950s. Are we as a nation ever going to get over it? Robert J.
