Unfortunately, it seems this may not be the case after all. Further analysis of Martian soil have found that it's full of a chemically reactive salt called perchlorate. We have the same type of salt here - a manmade contaminant that serves as the solid rocked fuel found in fireworks. So life on Mars? Getting more and more unlikely.
