Ford India launches engine assembly plant US based automaker Ford has announced that their engine assembly plant in India has now started operating. The plant is located in Chennai in southern India and would be manufacturing 60,000 engines annually for Ford Fiesta and Ford Fusion models. They would be using bulk of these engines locally and would export the rest. The company aims to enhance the capacity of the plant to manufacture 250,000 engines annually. Michael Boneham, president and managing director of Ford India spoke about this new development: “This facility will help position Ford India as a strategic manufacturing hub for low displacement powertrain engines within our Asia Pacific and Africa region. The domestic assembly of these engines will facilitate quicker time-to-market response, and greatly enhance the efficiencies of our operations.” Tags: Automobiles , Cars , Chennai , Ford , Ford Fiesta , Ford Fusion , Ford India , India , Tamil Nadu Related posts Volvo Car India to expand dealer network (0) Toyota expects US demand to be as strong as last year (0) Toyota aiming to sell 9.85 million vehicles worldwide next year (0) Tata Nano on display at Auto Expo (0) Tata Motors top candidate for Jaguar, Land Rover deal (0) ...
