Former Nintendo chairman Hiroshi Yamauchi is officially Japan's richest man, reports Forbes. The 80-year-old Yamauchi retired from the company he turned from a playing card maker into the world's foremost maker of videogames in 2005, but remains a major shareholder. The exploding profits off the success of Nintendo DS and Wii mean that Yamauchi is now worth an estimated $7.8 billion. Other gaming industry figures on the list include Aruze founder Kazuo Okada at #12, Enix founder Yasuhiro Fukushima at #25, Konami's Kagemasa Kozuki at #34, Sega Sammy's Hajime Satomi at #36, and Koei husband and wife founders Keiko and Yoichi Erikawa at #39.
