Local farmer Don Scott is responsible for nearly 1,000 lbs. of ground beef that the Central Missouri Food Bank delivered by truck Monday morning to Boonville’s largest food pantry, Neighbors Helping Neighbors (NHN). The gift was part of a larger contribution totaling approximately one ton of hamburger that Central Missouri Food Bank (CMFB) in Columbia, Mo., will distribute to four local food pantries: NHN, Harvest House, Milestone Daycare and As the River Flows. The tables of Boonville’s largest food pantry once bowed under the weight of canned foods. Now, gaps fill space between potatoes and mixed vegetables where green beans and other vegetables once were stacked high above the rest. This may be due to the community’s growing demand, causing a shortage across the pantry’s food groups.
