I doubt that we're in prime fishing season yet on the Little Salmon, but the way this crazy spring has been going, it's a roll of the dice. The salmon are returning to the hatchery, and anglers had caught 50 fish through last weekend. Not exactly rocking, but if you know your salmon, you know they go from a trickle to a wave in a short amount of time. I think there's going to be a solid enough run that we will get at least a couple weeks of good fishing. But when that fishing will start is anyone's guess, and it's better to be there seeing for yourself than hearing about it later. If you're waiting for the fish to arrive, your wait is over. They're arriving, and numbers should start zooming up soon. Be prepared for high water; and if the chinook start hitting, expect crowds. Riggins has cell phone service now, so word is going to travel fast. So you have to ask yourself, do I want to be the one waiting for the phone call that fishing turned hot, or the one making it? ...
