All nine South Florida members of Congress asked the FBI today to investigate three incidents in their region to see if they reflect a pattern of anti-Semitism. Congressman Ron Klein rounded up fellow members to send a letter to FBI Director Robert Mueller. They asked him to “look into these incidents as a potential trend and report to us about ways that you are working with community leaders to find the perpetrators and prevent future incidents.” They were referring to these events: On April 22, a synagogue in Miami Beach burned to the ground. Some suspect the fire was arson, set to intimidate the Jewish community. On April 30, swastika graffiti was discovered on the walls of a synagogue in Parkland. On May 3, vandals cut a swastika in the turf at a country club in Palm City, shortly before Israel’s Independence Day. ``We condemn in the strongest possible terms any act of hatred in South Florida,’’ the House members wrote. ``We are outraged that anti-Semitism could still exist in our communities, more than 60 years after the Holocaust.’’ Here’s a full text of the letter: ...
