Elvis Costello ( MySpace ) is one of those elder statesmen of music who just keeps putting out amazing albums year after year. Which isn't to say he hasn't put out bad music, too, but his latest— Momofuku —which features backing provided again by The Imposters, is surprisingly strong, especially when you consider it's about the 35th album from a now nearly 54-year-old Costello. His vocals are just as powerful and moving as always, the beat just as catchy, the lyrics just as sexy and smart. With wonderful songs like "Turpentine," "Harry Worth," "Stella Hurt," and "Mr. Feathers," it's another triumph. All of which is just to say, the guy still rules. He's coming to the Wachovia Center with another gang of elder statesmen of rock, The Police, on July 29th (rescheduled from November 14th of last year). How's that for an incredible double bill? Supposedly this will be the last Philly show ever for The Police, so it's definitely worth seeing, and there even seem to be some tickets left . We don't have any free tickets to offer you, sad to say, but we do have a prize pack that includes Momofuku on CD and vinyl, a poster, and a stencil, and all you have to do to get a shot at it is fill out the form below before end of day this Sunday, July 20th.
