Plano's new independent bookstore, Legacy Books , plans its grand opening for Friday, Nov. 7 -- and the festivities will include personal appearances by a couple of notable names from the food world. On Saturday, Nov. 8, at noon: Diana Kennedy , the British-born authority on Mexican cuisine, will be at Legacy with the 2008 second edition of her classic book, The Art of Mexican Cooking . She'll be bringing along three appetizers of 30 portions each, which the Legacy staff will reheat and prepare in the store's demonstration kitchen, so that attendees can get a taste of the Kennedy recipes. At 3 p.m. that day: Fort Worth restaurateur and chef Grady Spears will promote his 2007 cookbook, The Texas Cowboy Kitchen . There will be tastes of Grady's food made available, too.
