Yoakam Makes His 24th Appearance on the Show -- Breaking the Record For Most Musical Performances
BURBANK, Calif. - May 8, 2008 - Dwight Yoakam will kick off "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno's" seventh season of popular outdoor concerts with the "Mercedes-Benz Summer Concert Series" on May 15. This performance will mark Yoakam's 24th appearance on the show -- breaking the record for most musical performances as Yoakam will finally beat out long time rival and fellow country superstar Lyle Lovett for the title.
Held in the NBC Studio midway in Burbank, the outdoor concerts will feature some of the biggest names in music, including Usher, Sheryl Crow and Al Green. Additional performances will be announced throughout the summer.
The "Mercedes-Benz Summer Concert Series" on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" promises high-energy performances for the show and interactive components on the show's website.
