SOHO— We decided to swing by Soho Mews to get a look at how the multi-lingual Gwathmey-Siegel creation at 311 West Broadway is progressing, and we must say that we kind of dig the elitist marketing angle. The only private park in Soho! Who cares if it's really only a garden? Sure, it's crammed in between buildings and no one will ever use it, but the same is true about Gramercy Park, so more power to 'em! [CurbedWire Staff] PROSPECT HEIGHTS— The Landmarks Preservation Commission will calendar the Prospect Heights Historic District on Tuesday, marking a huge step toward the landmark designation of the neighborhood. The Municipal Art Society, which teamed up with the Prospect Heights Neighborhood Development Corporation in 2006 to push for the designation, issued a statement with this quote from the PHNDC's chairman: "The Landmarks Commission has obviously recognized the threat posed to the character of one of Brooklyn's most well-preserved brownstone neighborhoods. The pressure from the Atlantic Yards project and other recent developments are of grave concern to the hundreds of local residents who have written in support of historic designation for Prospect Heights."
