Not long after I posted the Hollywood Casting Call blog entry, I was practically accosted and informed that I had rudely dismissed a chunk of the football staff, an important group that included the graduate assistants and quality control guys. My defense that I had merely went by the guys who were listed on the website under coaches fell on deaf ears. I was told -- nay ordered -- that these omissions needed to be rectified. OK, I'll rectify them. We have nothing better to do, right? Not with football off this weekend. I'm leaving most of these ones up to the Murphbloggers, though I did manage to come up with a couple of casting calls that I feel are appropriate. The others? You make the call... Casting call: Frank McRae While he's not exactly a dead ringer, Double D, what with his genial manner, always reminds me of Frank McRae, a guy who was good in just about every movie I've seen him in. McRae usually was cast as the loudmouth, ill-tempered chief of police in movies like 48 Hrs. and Last Action Hero. But I always remember Big Frank from one of my favorite movies, Used Cars , in which he played Jim, the mechanic. That was a great flick.
