| Associated Press NORMAN, Okla. - Grady County Sheriff Kieran McMullen is facing one less charge in connection with an alleged gambling operation. A Cleveland County judge on Wednesday dismissed the misdemeanor conspiracy charge. Another judge previously dismissed a felony conspiracy charge against the sheriff, prompting District Attorney Bret Burns to refile it as a misdemeanor. McMullen still faces a felony charge of conducting illegal gambling and a misdemeanor neglect-of-duty charge. The charges stem from a raid on the Chickasha Elks Lodge in September 2006. The sheriff claims the raid stemmed from animosity toward him by Burns. Two more days of pre-trial hearings are set on a variety of issues, including a defense motion to dismiss the entire case and to disqualify Burns' office. Copyright 2008 The Associated Press.
