The main focus of Senator Hillary Clinton’s visit to Fort Drum was to sit down with injured soldiers and their families. Clinton is working on laws that will provide them with more support and better access to help. The Senator toured Fort Drum’s Warrior Transition Unit which assists wounded warriors and says she’s happy with the program and believes on a national level more and more attention is being given to injured troops. Clinton is introducing a bill that would make it easier for injured soldiers to accept charitable gifts, valuable supplies and resources that can help with recovery. Clinton also took time to talk with 10th Mountain Division Commanding Officer general Michael Oates. She’s optimistic about the war in iraq, but says now, attention must be turned to the other front in the war: Afghanistan. Senator Clinton also met with local officials at Jefferson Community College to talk about her hopes to make the winter easier for New Yorkers.
