Cisco Systems is going to pay about $120M to acquire Seattle's Pure Networks which focuses on home networking-management software and tools. Pure may not have much in the way of revenues but the functionality seems like it could pay off for Cisco. Pure is backed by Bessemer Venture Partners, Ignition Partners, Mayfield and Intel Capital. Most recently it raised $12.5M. Pure Networks hit the wall in 2006 and had to lay-off staff. Upon the close of the acquisition, Pure Networks' employees will be integrated into Linksys. Among other things, Pure Networks' Network Magic provides remote access to shared files when away from home by creating your own home network URL on the Internet.
