| (Telecompaper) China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) will begin on 10 May mobile TV trials using the CMMB standard. The trials will be launched in Beijing and Shenzen shortly and in Shanghai at the end of this month, Interfax writes citing an official from CMMB chip maker Innofidei. Users will be able to buy CMMB-enabled USB dongles and receive free TV programmes. Some seven channels will be broadcasted in the trial. CMMB-enabled MP4 players and mobile phones will also be launched soon. SARFT has completed basic terrestrial CMMB coverage in eight cities (Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Shenyang, Qingdao, Qinhuangdao, Guangzhou and Shenzhen) and is currently improving indoor coverage. The organisation further plans to complete deployment of CMMB networks in 37 cities before August this year and will provide CMMB services during the Beijing Olympic Games. ... |
