 Spent the weekend sweating my body weight at Goodwood in my first competitive event of the Daily Telegraph Caterham Academy. I know it's not a nice thing for a lady to write about, but sometimes you've got to tell it how it was, and it was hot. Very hot in fireproof underwear, race suit, boots, balaclava, helmet, gloves, in a black car, on a black plastic seat, on the tarmac, the sun beating down... This kind of weather tempts you to ride in T-shirt and jeans So I know y'all want to know how I did/how much I humiliated myself. Well, my full-blast feature on it should be in the paper and online this Saturday, so I'll keep some of the goodies back, but suffice to say I improved between laps.... Oh okay, so I span on qualifying, which gave me a startlingly wonderful time of 1 min 28 sec, and my first timed run came in at 1 min19. Didn't get beyond that coz another competitor rolled his MX-5 and the event finished early. Read more... ... |
