The presidential nominees both talked about small town mayors at a forum last night, with Sen. Barack Obama saying small town mayors have "some of the toughest jobs in the country" and Sen. John McCain declaring "Listen, mayors have the toughest job, I think, in America." So when former Wasilla, Alaska, mayor and Republican vice presidential nominee Gov. Sarah Palin comes to Carson City on Saturday, where will the Capital City's mayor be? Not at the event. Mayor Marv Teixeira, a Republican, said first, he had an unspecified conflict on Saturday evening. Secondly, he didn't want to involve himself with partisan politics. "I was asked would I appear with Gov. Palin," Texeira said. "I'm a Republican mayor, but I sit in a nonpartisan office. Partisan politics have never been on my agenda." He said he was "not going to tell" who he supported in the presidential race. ...
