| The 158th Carroll County Fair gets off to a big start on Tuesday at Carrollton with new events and old favorites, too. Tammy Sanderson, Fair Board secretary, said scheduling two nights of harness racing has brought a big response from racing fans. “People won’t have to miss work since we’ve scheduled it in the evenings, too, this year,” Sanderson said. Harness racing will be held both Monday and Tuesday nights at 6. “Motorcross racing on Wednesday evening is new to us, too,” Sanderson said. The truck and tractor pulls, a community favorite, still will be on Thursday and Friday nights, and the fair board has had a big response to the scheduling of Mike Albert’s ”Elvis” show for Saturday. The fair will run through July 20. The fair board is managing the demolition derby that night, Sanderson said. Other management had taken care of it in years past, but control of the event has returned to the fair board. Sunday afternoon’s favorite is always the combine derby, Sanderson said. “There really isn’t anything quite like it.” A weeklong pass for the fair is $16, and single admission tickets are $7. Admission to the fair on Tuesday and Wednesday is free until 3 but does not include rides or side shows. Senior citizens, 65 and older, will be admitted free on Tuesday. Ride passes are $5 per day. The fair office is open through today and once the fair opens, will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. throughout the fair. Fair events b ... |
