Two men were found dead of carbon monoxide poisoning Friday in a home at 614 Park St. The source of the carbon monoxide was a vehicle running in the garage of the home, according to a press release from Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey Conner. The body of Stewart A. Dewease Jr., 49, who lives in the Park Street home, was found on the first floor of the residence, according to Conner. The body of 21-year-old Keith Rohrer of Waynesboro was found in the basement. Lochstampfor Funeral Home, Waynesboro, is handling arrangements for Rohrer and plans to release an obituary on Monday. The bodies of both men were discovered by a member of Dewease’s family. The events leading to the discovery of the bodies are still under investigation by the coroner’s office and Waynesboro Police Department. A news release providing more detail on the events that led to the deaths of Dewease and Rohrer is expected next week, according to Conner. Emergency personnel were called to the Park Street home at 12:19 p.m. Friday and Conner arrived on the scene at 1:09 p.m., at which time he entered the building using protective breathing gear. The two men were pronounced dead at the scene. Conner was unable to enter the building safely and without protective gear to conduct a full investigation until several hours later. ...
