The Centerway Parking Garage underwent a transformation Sunday. Gone were the SUVs and minivans typically seen in the garage during the week, replaced with muscle cars and souped-up imports. The 607 Motorsports Car Club held its second annual car show Sunday. Organizers said this year’s event topped last year. “It’s been great,” said Stephanie Burrows, promotion director for the car show. “We had around 125 cars this year. Last year we had about 100.” Burrows said the car club, which was formed three or four years ago, decided to organize one event per year and settled on a car show. “We wanted to give something back to the car community,” Burrows said. “We go to a lot of shows ourselves.” Burrows said one of the attractions of the Corning show was the walk-around judging. This gave the judges the opportunity to talk to the owners about their cars. “People love talking about their cars,” Burrows said. Horseheads resident Troy Tobey brought his 1969 Camaro SS to the show. He said a lot of people stopped to look or ask questions. “It’s a muscle car,” Tobey said. “People love muscle cars. And the 1969 was everyone’s favorite year for the Camaro. Tobey has had the car for 15 years. He said he’s rebuilt most of the car in that time. “It’s taken three years to build it up,” Tobey said. “Three years and a lot of paychecks.” Tobey said his love of cars runs in the family. “Years ago my uncle used to work on cars,” Tobey said. “He got me i ...
