A report by Maplecroft , a British consultancy which specialises in the mapping of risk found that Canada may be in the best position to thrive in decades ahead. The best-to-worst rankings are revealed in the first-ever climate change vulnerability index. Canada is top, followed by Ireland, Norway and Denmark. The United Kingdom is 12th. Vulnerability is examined by the study across six different sectors in the economy;natural resources and ecosystems;poverty, development and health;agriculture;population;settlement and infrastructure;and institutions, governance and social capital. Via The Hamilton Spectator .  It is ironic that the most developed nations in the world, largely responsible for climate change in the first place, are the least likely to suffer from it and the most prepared to withstand its effect in the future while developing countries, particularly Islands, who benefited the least from the industrial revolution, are the most vulnerable with regards to the effects of climate change and are the least likely to have the resources to prepare for it. ...
