The El Dorado Broncos ended their regular season by being swept in a doubleheader Sunday by Liberal at McDonald Stadium. Whether it’s the end of the season completely is still in doubt. The visiting BeeJays won both games Sunday, 8-1 and 8-6, after the Broncos had rallied to win the series opener Saturday, 8-6, after being suspended Friday night. El Dorado finished the regular season 14-22 in the Jayhawk League and 24-24 overall. The Broncos will wait to find out within the next few days whether they will get an invitation to the National Baseball Congress World Series, which gets underway Friday. “We don’t know anything officially right now,” said Broncos owner-manager J.D. Schneider. “Hopefully, we’ll know in the next day or two. We’re hoping it’ll be good news.” Friday night’s game was suspended in the bottom of the fifth inning with the Broncos in the middle of a rally, trailing 4-2 with runners on second and third with none out. El Dorado picked up where they left off Saturday, with Matt Davis singling home two runs to tie the game. “We weren’t too worried about losing the momentum,” said Bronco second baseman Chris Biguenet, who had a two-run home run Friday night to start the rally. “Two on, none out, two runs in and the top of the order coming up...we liked our chances in that situation.” Then, with two out and two on, Mike Williams cleared the right-field wall for a three-run home run and a 7-4 Bronco lead. “It felt reall ...
