Proponents of a power plant pulled the plug on their presentation before the City Council, sitting as the Finance Committee on Monday. Spurned by a procedural glitch that limited the presentation, Ronald Kelly of Advanced Power was set back by the council’s vote that prevented two other speakers, including a scientific consultant, from being heard. “It never crossed my mind you would only want to hear part of the story,” Kelly told the council as spokesman Josh Levitt disconnected the computer he had set up in anticipation of a 15-minute presentation to the council. The council chambers were filled with interested residents of Brockton, West Bridgewater, Bridgewater and Abington — some supporters and others, including several from Abington and Bridgewater, who are opposed to the 350-megawatt plant proposed for the city’s south side. Clean Energy asked to appear before the council after opponents, led by Brockton businessman Ed Byers, made a presentation last month. Though the council has gone on record against the power plant, Councilors Todd Petti, at-large, and Timothy Cruise, Ward 1, filed the resolve that paved the way for Monday’s appearance. Ward 6 Councilor Michelle DuBois objected to adding speakers beyond Kelly, identified as the lone “invited guest” in the resolve.
