| The Minnesota Vikings released quarterback Brooks Bollinger and placed safety Michael Boulware on season-ending injured reserve Saturday, as the team reduced its roster to the 53-player maximum. Bollinger, who appeared in seven games as a member of the Vikings in 2006-07, was battling rookie John David Booty for the third QB job behind Tarvaris Jackson and Gus Frerotte. The Wisconsin product did not enjoy an impressive 2008 preseason, however, completing just 14-of-35 passes for 133 yards without a touchdown or interception to seal his fate. Boulware, an offseason free agent pickup who appeared in all 16 games with the Houston Texans last season, suffered a wrist injury and will miss the year. The injury will force Boulware to miss a game for the first time in his five- year NFL career. Also released by the Vikings on Saturday were linebacker Rufus Alexander, defensive end Martail Burnett, guard Brian Daniels, defensive tackle Leger Douzable, kicker Steve Hauschka, tackle Chase Johnson, wide receiver Jaymar Johnson, tight end Braden Jones, wide receiver Nate Jones, linebacker J Leman, center Tim Mattran, cornerback Dee McCann, center Dan Mozes, wide receiver Martin Nance, defensive end Chris Norwell, wide receiver Darius Reynaud, cornerback Brandon Sumrall, cornerback Marcus Walker, running back Albert Young.
