September 21, 2008 - Texas, USA - The exit of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement Secretary General Pagan Amum from the Government of National Unity in Sudan where he worked as Cabinet Minister has raised the following questions from the concerned citizens of Sudan and other people who have interest in Sudanese politics around the world: 1. What political impact does Pagan’s exit from the Government of National Unity bring given that he has been a staunch critic of the government he had been serving? 2. Does that free him now so that he positions himself as the real attack dog of the failing governance system in the Sudan? 3. Is that going to make things worst for him politically or better? In other words, is it going to weaken his political influence or strengthen it? 4.Is it going to position him shoulder high among the SPLM leaders as the authentic voice of the marginalized and put the SPLM on track as the true party of the marginalized? The entrance of Pagan into the cabinet in the Government of National Unity was of the same concern as his exit. Pagan had been a well known critic of the totalitarian government of Sudan before he became a Cabinet Minister after the crisis that caused SPLM to withdraw from the Government of National Unity last year.
