Release out : Processing now, but at first glance Amazon must have done a fantastic job with margin control : Revenue is inline, but EPS is through the roof once you back out a $53 million one time non-cash gain from the sale of a European DVD business, EPS and operating income come in below consensus. Sorry for the initial confusion, which appears to have been widespread. Perhaps Amazon might clarify during the 5pm call. EPS: 37 cents (GAAP) vs 26 cents consensus. Back out $53 million and by our count, you get 24 cents. Revenue: $4.06 billion, up 41% y/y, vs. $3.96 billion consensus (original guidance $3.88 to $4.07B) Net out $0.18 billion in Forex and sales are up 35%. Operating income: $217 million, versus guidance of $198 million. Back out $17 million in Forex and you're almost exactly on guidance - $200 million. But again, taking out the $53 million leaves Amazon with a significant miss. Looking for clarity on call. Guidance: Q3 Revenues at the high end of Street expecations: $4.2 - $4.425 billion. FY a little less agressive: $19.35 - $20.10 billion. See Also: Amazon's Teeny Tiny Digital Sales: How Small Are They? Amazon Beats Q1 Consensus, But Guidance Mixed ...
