President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso says Albania will have to implement further reforms if it wants to become a member of the European Union. After a meeting with Albania's prime minister Sali Berisha in Brussels, Mr Barroso said it is important that the Albanian authorities take a tougher line on corruption. The Commission has not set a date for Albania to become a candidate member and insists that further negotiations will only take place once reforms have produced concrete results.
