Danny Ainge had an eventful day on Wednesday, even before his Boston Celtics took the floor for Game 5 against the Cleveland Cavaliers. His oldest daughter, Ashley, gave birth to Ainge’s sixth grandchild, Siena, a couple of hours before the Celtics faced the Cavaliers. On top of that, Ainge was named the NBA’s executive of the year after putting together a team that had the league’s best regular-season record. Ainge, the Celtics’ executive director of basketball operations and general manager, was honored after making trades that brought All-Stars Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen to Boston. He also built a strong bench that featured James Posey and Eddie House for a team that went 66-16. The award went to Ainge nearly five years to the day when he was hired by the Celtics. Ainge built through the draft and had a youth movement going before packaging young players to acquire Garnett and Allen. “I don’t know what it was like around here last year, but I know from where I was, it seemed like he was having a hard time, people putting pressure on him,” said Allen, who was dealt by the Seattle SuperSonics on draft night last June. “He stepped up and made some great deals over the summer. “He was working very tirelessly all summer long, even after bringing me and then Kevin on board.
