Project to develop an indicator-based scorecard to assess the sustainability of dairy farms in the U.S. and develop new projects This application project is a collaboration project between Manomet Center for Conservation Sciences, a major dairy cooperative, and a major organization representing the dairy industry. The VCS will be comprised many indicators developed and tested by the project. The VCS is being developed with participation by farmers, and local, regional, and national stakeholders including consumers. The VCS will be used by farmers and the dairy products sector to assess and communicate farm sustainability to local communities, stakeholders, retailers, and consumers. This project is part of Manomet's Nature capital initiative which seeks to better manage natural capital to improve the sustainability of rural communities and natural resource-based business. The Natural Capital Initiative includes projects has other projects in ag., forestry, nature-based recreation, carbon offsets, and clean water.
