Following unprecedented checks on Amtrak and Greyhound buses, the U.S. border patrol is forging ahead with surprise raids on domestic ferry runs from the San Juan Islands . So far agents have arrested over 50 people, 49 of them Latino, suspected of being "illegal immigrants" and turned them over to the ICE. But besides capturing alleged illegal immigrants and a few citizens in possession of pot, they are also catching heat from islanders and tourists alike. Howard Rosenfeld, San Juan County council chairman, has expressed worries about the culture of fear that is putting off tourists. "Most people just don't like it. It promotes a culture of fear.
