In case you didn't see it, AT&T is moving its corporate headquarters to Dallas from San Antonio. As I was working on that article, it struck me that AT&T's two biggest corporate announcements in the last year or so have both coincided with iPhone stuff. In January 2007, just three days after Steve Jobs got up on stage and unveiled the original iPhone and declared that Cingular would be the exclusive carrier for the iPhone with a giant Cingular logo projected on the screen behind him, AT&T announced that it was retiring the Cingular brand. It was odd timing, to say the least. Now, just as AT&T is gearing up for the July 11 launch of the 3G iPhone, the company decides to relocate from San Antonio to Dallas. I wonder what AT&T has in store for us next year when version three of the iPhone goes on sale. ...
