A Nebraska man was arrested in Pratt Tuesday in connection with a search warrant for explosives and destructive devices at his Nebraska residence. Al Klanecky, 58 of Wolbach, Neb. was arrested in Pratt shortly before the warrant was executed at his residence in Wolbach, said Jeff Fulton, assistant special agent in charge for ATF in Nebraska. Klanecky has been under surveillance for three months. He travels as part of the business responsibilities and that is the speculation why he was in Pratt. It is unknown if he had any other connections to Pratt. “I don’t think he even knows anyone in your town,” Fulton said. Initially he was detained for safety and was then arrested. ATF agents, Nebraska State Patrol, local sheriff’s officers and the Nebraska State Fire Marshall’s office conducted the raid. Seized in the raid were explosive materials and evidence of manufacture of destructive devices, Fulton said. The Grand Island Independent said federal agents found grenades, fuses and a gunpowder substitute in their search. Klanecky was under surveillance and his location was known to the ATF. Agents from Wichita ATF made the arrest in Pratt sometime Tuesday. Klanecky was arrested and made an appearance in federal court in Wichita Wednesday where he was charged with federal explosives violations, Fulton said. was released and will make his next appearance in Nebraska Federal Court.
