With so many new Eee PC models now confirmed in the pipeline from ASUS, I suppose we’ll have to get used to another few months of regular leaks and launches. Today’s fresh Eee takes us back to its roots, in the shape of the 7-inch 701SD. With the same display and keyboard as the original Eee, the external differences are relatively subtle. Casing design has been borrowed from the 901-series, though without the same rounded edges, and the new Eee logo has unsurprisingly replaced the old. There’s also a new bump differentiating the left and right sides of the mouse button. Color choices so far seem to be matte black and matte white, arguably giving the compact netbook a more high-end look. The 701SD will fit into a new, four-model 701-series range, including the 701, 701SD (with 30GB hard-drive) and 701SD-4G. No hardware specs are known, aside from Intel’s Atom processor being used and the storage of the lone HDD-based model.
