This is the year to see if the trio of Arenas/Butler/Jamison can make some noise.... And if they prove they can - then next season (2009-10) the Wizards are positioned to make a run at the Title. Here are the players under contract in the 2009-2010 season:Gilbert Arenas Antawn Jamison Caron Butler DeShawn Stevenson Andray Blatche  Nick Young (Team Option) Darius Songaila Oleksiy Pecherov (Team Option) Dominic McGuire  (Team Option) JaVale McGee and $20 Million in Expiring Contracts: Etan Thomas $7,350,000 Antonio Daniels $6,600,000 Brendan Haywood  $6,000,000 With the outstanding Free Agent class at the end of the 2009-10 season (LeBron James, Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Carlos Boozer, Dirk Nowitzki, Amare Stoudemire, Steve Nash, Manu Ginobli, Marcus Camby and many more.) , the Wizards are positioned with over $20 Million in expiring contracts to take advantage. Keeping in mind that with Butler, Arenas and Jamison all but sewed up for years to come, the Wizards will never be able to participate in any big time Free Agent signings.... They just won't be able to get far enough under the Salary Cap.... BUT, those Expiring Contracts will be valuable trade assets. (Just think of what the Lakers got for Kwame Brown's expiring contract)... Any teams wishing to participate in that Free Agent pool, will be coming to the Wizards with attractive offers for those expiring contracts.
