Full coverage of the US Elections 2008 It feels like the general election contest has really started in earnest. There’s scarcely a mention of Hillary Clinton on television or radio. Instead it’s all Barack Obama and all John McCain all the time – with a bit part from President George W. Bush after his comments in Israel yesterday. Will Michelle Obama be an asset or a liability for Barack Obama? In a sign of things to come, the Republican party in Tennessee has put out a YouTube ad that takes on Mr Obama’s wife Michelle for her infamous comment while campaigning in Madison, Wisconsin in February: "For the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country." She later tried to clarify the remark by saying that she was proud of how Americans were engaging in politics process and that she had always been proud of her country.
