You'll have to wait until tomorrow for my review of the teriffic "Iron Man,'' but in the meantime a few thoughts about Terrence Howard , who gets second billing in the posters for the summer's first blockbuster but has practically nothing to do as the military liason to Robert Downey Jr.'s billionaire weapons manufacturer Tony Stark. Jeff Bridges and Gwyneth Paltrow have large, well-written roles, while Howard doesn't even get angry when Tony accidentally downs one of his planes, nearly killing the pilot. Howard's saddest scene comes near the end, when he looks at a spare Iron Man suit and wistfully says, "Maybe next time.'' What might as well be the motto for his recent career. Since receiving an Oscar nomination for "Hustle and Flow,'' Howard has cashed in with unrewarding second-banana roles in the likes of "Get Rich Or Die Tryin','' "Idlewild,'' "The Hunting Party'' and "The Brave One'' as well as such cinematic horrors as "August Rush'' and "Awake.''
